Income From Selling Low Content Books on Amazon

January 15, 2020 by Paul Marles Leave a Comment

I reviewed my notebook sales for December 2019. I sold 1595 notebooks to bring in approximately $3250.00 in royalties which is quite pleasing. I was expecting somewhere around $2500, so I’m quite happy with that figure.

My best selling book sold 213 copies which accounts for around 12.5% of the sales. This is good because my sales are spread out among many books so my main income doesn’t rely on any particular books which could put sales in a precarious predicament. If one book stops selling well the income will remain pretty constant.

This was after around a year of producing notebooks or low content books as they are otherwise know. I took around 3 – 4 months off between July and October because I bought a houseboat which has taken up a lot of time in renovation and modification works. So in total I would say I put in about 8 months in total on the notebooks.

Earlier in 2019 I really worked on them, uploading around 20 a day. Nothing spammy, all useful notebooks and log books designed for a particular purpose in mind.

During those months I didn’t work on them the royalties continued to come in and actually increased as sales started to slowly increase as we approached Q4. This shows the power of passive income. You still receive an income without having to put in the additional work.

The plan for this New Year is to continue the regular uploads but with more intense research to find profitable niches. Rather than plain journals I prefer to produce books which have a specific purpose. Examples of these could be puzzle books, accounting books, planners and log books. There are many different types once you start doing some research.

I particularly like these types of books because they are evergreen. Which means they are in constant demand. Sales don’t vary too much with trends and seasons. So the income remains relatively constant.

A new tool I’m using to do research, which looks very promising is the Cerebro module of Helium 10. I’ll probably produce a video on this and write a post sometime soon in the future. It looks very powerful and has already uncovered some book ideas I hadn’t considered before. But, like a lot of these things, you need to be organized to get the benefit.

I’ll be posting more on the notebook and low content book business in future articles and providing more information on this lucrative business.
